Palafitos Overwater Bungalows

Palafitos Overwater Bungalows

In November, I had the opportunity to visit all of the Karisma Resorts in the Riviera Maya. During my 7 Nights Mother-Daughter trip. My travel agent group’s last stop was at the adults only all inclusive resort El Dorado Maroma. I wanted to write a quick sneak peek on the Palafitos Overwater Bungalows specifically. There are certainly other room categories, however these bungalows are top of the line. At the time of this blog post, the Palafitos Overwater Bungalows are the first and only overwater bungalows in Mexico.

For my clients who don’t have the funds or time to travel to the Maldives or French Polynesia, this is a great alternative. Cancun is a quick plane ride from the U.S. east coast. The price is unbeatable. Especially considering all of your meals, beverages (including alcoholic!), onsite amenities, and activities are included. For example, two travelers leaving from DC and staying at the Palafitos Overwater Bungalows from July 8, 2020 – July 13, 2020 would only pay $3,848.86 per person (based on double occupancy). If you compare that with paying $5,000+ per person not including any meals for French Polynesia you’ll see the savings. Additionally, if you book your trip with me I can also facilitate an easy payment schedule after a small deposit of $200 per person is placed. So it’s a very attainable trip!

El Dorado Maroma by Karisma

The Karisma Resorts manage quite a few different family-friendly and adults only resorts. You can find their properties through Mexico, Jamaica, and Dominican Republic. Their adults only resorts are wonderful for couples specifically. El Dorado Maroma, a Spa Resort by Karisma is a boutique hotel situated on the beautiful Maroma Beach. This resort is ideal for guests seeking active relaxation in a luxuriously laid-back environment with gourmet cuisine, infinity pool, ocean-view swim up suites, and impeccable service. Yes, you heard that right! Swim up suites. So if your budget wasn’t quite high enough for the Palafitos Overwater Bungalows, you could purchase the fab swim up suites instead. There’s also an assortment of non-motorized watersports guests can use complimentary, such as kayaks, snorkeling and paddleboat. Motorized watersports like jet skiing, parasailing, scuba diving, and deep-sea fishing are also available but for a surcharge.

What I love about this property is that no matter which room you’re in, you will face the beach.  There are 4 freshwater swimming pools spread throughout the resort. You can pamper yourself at the Naay Spa (located at all of the adults only Karisma properties). Based on the ancient Mayan principles of the elements, at this spa you can enjoy unique treatments and massages. For example, you can enjoy a tequila ritual. You’ll enjoy an invigorating and refreshing skin treatment using a combination of tequila and melon extract that removes dead skin cells and improves circulation. Another popular option is the signature Beachfront Sky Massage in the ocean palapa. During our tour I saw an assortment of bath salts made from different ingredients such as honey, agave, cinnamon, orange, and chocolate.

Gourmet Inclusive

Probably THE biggest thing Karisma Resorts pride themselves on is their “Gourmet Inclusive” meal plan. This meal plan is included in all Karisma all inclusive resorts. At El Dorado Maroma, you have 6 restaurants serving delectable meals at all hours of the day.

  • Mexico Lindo – Mexican cuisine prepared with international flair, as well as fresh seafood caught daily. Open for dinner.
  • Kiyoko – Pacific Rim Kiyoko restaurant is a mystical combination of heaven and ocean. Here you will experience Asian-inspired cuisine served in the most creative ways. Enjoy sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, dumplings and other delicious main courses. Open for dinner.

For dinner enjoy a variety of ocean fresh fish and exquisite pasta, along with other succulent dishes made with authentic ingredients and served in a relaxing and romantic atmosphere.
