Travel Agent Life: Friday Update

Happy Friday everyone and thanks for tuning in to another Travel Agent Life: Friday Update. The weather is finally starting to prove to be springtime and I’m loving it in Virginia. Makes me a little more content with sticking around here. For now… I know it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to post. It’s been busy busy busy and I’m not the one to complain. Here’s a quick glimpse into my work life right now.

Clients’ Bookings

I remember starting off in this industry, I would reach out to the seasoned vets for tips and advice. One of the common tips and advice they provide is to find your “niche.” Really become the expert in your chosen destination. I’m sure you all know someone who’s the “Disney chick” or the “Caribbean chick.” I promised myself going into this field, I would sell the world. And while I do value the learning experiences and education that come with focusing on a specific region, I don’t believe that is all that should be the focal point. There are SO many places in this world and it would be a shame to miss out on bookings (which translates to missed commission checks!).

Currently Away:

  • Bachelor Group in Cancun staying at The Pyramid at Grand Oasis
  • Couple in Rome right now staying at Best Western Hotel President about to make their way to Florence to stay at Mulino di Firenze

Upcoming Client Trips in May and June:

  • Next month, I have honeymooners heading to Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico
  • I have 2 couples heading to Aruba for some romance and fun in the sun
  • Another couple is heading to Rome and Tuscany (with day trips to Cinque Terre and various other places). Yes they are brave enough to rent a car there!
  • I have a couple heading to Greece (Athens > Mykonos > Santorini). If you’d like to keep up with my Client Spotlight Tuesday posts where I posts pictures of my clients enjoying their trip, feel free to follow me here.
  • Honeymooners are heading to the new(ish) UNICO 20 87 property in Riviera Maya. I’m dying to check this property out. Looks like a dream. Seriously, THIS is their ice cream sundae option for you to sample. If you couldn’t tell from the primary picture of this post, I kinda sorta have a thing for ice cream. But who doesn’t? Besides anyone who’s lactose intolerant I suppose…

G Adventures

I found out where I will be heading for my sponsored G Adventures trip…. *drum roll please*…. I’m heading to Machu Picchu, Peru! I could not be any more thrilled for this. I will be participating in their Machu Picchu Adventure trip specifically which is an 8-Day trip from Lima to Lima with stops along the way including Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Aguas Calientes. My bags are packed and I leave in June! If you’re not following me on Instagram yet, be sure to do so (@travelagentdiary) so you can learn about not only this fascination destination but also what it’s like on a G Adventures trip.

Many people don’t know this but there is a portion of G Adventures’ itineraries that include a “G Adventures for Good” mission, where you get the privilege of visiting a local community and participating in sustainable volunteerism. As Daniel Sendecki said, “When you take to the road it’s important to give back as much – if not more – than what you take away.”

In Peru, I will be visiting the Ccaccaccollo Women’s Weaving Co-Op initiative by Planeterra Foundation. Here is the link if you would like to learn more or donate funds to help grow this initiative.

What I’m Working On

Travel Agent Life is keeping me busy. I’m working on a BUNCH of quotes at the moment that’s keeping me busy. Working on a friends’ trip to Paris, birthday girls getaway to the Caribbean this November, Japan trip for a belated honeymoon, and a trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi for a couple.

I just booked a client and her fiance to Thailand this coming February! So excited because this client isn’t just any client. It’s someone I went to high school with way back when! We won’t discuss how many years ago that was…

Payment Plans

Friendly reminder that I DO offer payment plans and there is absolutely no fee to use my service. Why not take advantage? No trip is really without reach with the right amount of planning and saving. Let me help you plan your next trip. Email me at cassandra@accent-on-travel.net. Not too late to get in on some summer fun!
