Happy 4th of July!!

Dear Diary + Readers,

Happy 4th of July! Typically, I would be on a beach somewhere enjoying the warm weather and cool water but this year I’m staying put. I went to the office today to get myself organized. I set up my file cabinet (where I can organize all of my booked clients). My “feng shui” is getting there.

Another reason for me skipping out on Independence Day vaca is that I have a daily goal for myself to reach out to at least 20 prospects per day and it’s easier to do from my office with my bridal expo spreadsheet. It’s all a numbers game really. If you reach out to 150 people per week, you may get 15 people email you back, 8 people actually be ready to book, and 3-4 who actually have the funds to book. It’s important to use networking as a way to supplement those email leads. I just signed up for a Networking event on July 20th via Meetup.com. There’s about 84 people RSVPed. Depending on your city there could be more or less. I’ll be sure to post about my experience with that and try to provide any tips for making the most use of your time at a networking event. Sometimes I feel them to be awkward. Walking in, not knowing anyone, wearing the God awful “Hi My Name is” stickers, making small talk like “weather’s great” and “wow can you believe Lebron did it??” But, at the end of the day, it’s important to have face time with these prospects. Even if they are not in the market for a vacation (although seriously, who isn’t??), they may know of some great leads.

I went to a Speed Networking event (yes, exactly like Speed Dating but professional) and met a real estate agent. Many of her clients are newlyweds or planning on getting married so she said she would refer different leads to me if she knew of anyone in the market. Now, will she actually do that? Maybe not. But, it certainly doesn’t hurt to substitute one night of your life to mingle with some locals in the area.

Still in “grind mode” but you know what they say “work hard, play harder.” This time next year, I plan to be back on my beach trips:
