Looking for a fun adventure while visiting Barbados? Look no further! On a full day Barbados Island Tour with Beautiful Barbados Tours & Excursions, you’ll end the tour with a Barbados snorkeling cruise, departing from Carlisle Bay. Carlisle Bay is named after the Earl of Carlisle who stole Barbados away from Sir William Courtenay in the Great Barbados Robbery. Today Carlisle Bay has the whitest sand in Barbados & the most brilliant turquoise sea.
The Carlisle Bay Marine Park has 6 shipwrecks in close proximity. The great diversity of brilliantly colored marine life include, turtles, star fish, sand dollars, rays and more. This cruise is with the company Tranquility Cruises. We joined the Turtle & Shipwreck Adventure cruise and had a blast!
Tranquility Cruises
After spending some time on the island tour looking at adorable monkeys at the Barbados Wildlife Reserve and visiting the east coast area of Bathsheba, it was time for the Barbados snorkeling cruise. All aboard
Tranquility Cruises!
The boat has 2 washrooms on board, a bar and an upper and lower deck with lots of seating. Tranquility Cruises is also equipped with life vest, snorkel and mask for those who wish to get wet and explore a shipwreck or swim with turtles and fish. An extra treat for kids on board (or kids at heart!) is the boat’s waterslide. The Turtle and Shipwreck Cruise is 90 minutes long. It was so much fun taking slo mo videos of my husband and friends going down the slide.
Don’t forget to check out the glass bottom viewer while you’re on the boat. You’ll get a little glimpse of what you will see underneath before you touch the water.
Marine Life
Under the surface of the sea Carlisle Bay comes alive with vibrant tropical fish in abundance, sea horses, sea turtles, octopus, rays, and much more! This unique array of marine life is due in part to the six different ship wrecks in the water as shallow as 12ft. The wrecks are obviously another important contributor to the popularity of Carlisle Bay. For those seeking an adventure, you will not be disappointed with the sight of these sunken treasures. Please note that the sea life seen from day to day varies.
Our group was able to see many fish and turtles. It was an incredible experience. This snorkeling cruise was my husband’s first time and he said it was the highlight of the trip.
PRO TIP: If you’re looking for a nice beach day later in the week, I recommend heading back to Carlisle Bay and staying on the stretch of beach in between the Radisson and Hilton hotels. That beach has powdery white sand, clear turquoise water, and you can rent watersports at nearby stands. There is also a locker for storage, but I believe you have to be a member to use those facilities. I recommend renting beach chairs with umbrellas so you have a safe spot to put your belongings as you enjoy the beach. Does swimming make you hungry? Be sure stop by Cuzz Fish Stand and enjoy a cutter fish sandwich (marlin). Absolutely delicious! Just spread some of that hot sauce on it – perfection.
